About

Hello there!

Welcome to On The Fly! I’m the teacher with too much imagination. I’m Miss Blair. I work as a learning support teacher at a public school in Pennsylvania. I love my job! But some days it is hard to keep the kids’ attention. I’ve discovered that it is really easy for me to come up with games to get the kids refocused, more awake, and ready to learn. After some encouragement from my coworkers and other friends I decided to start a blog to share all my games with you all!

So a little about me. I started at my school in October of 2017 and have been loving this work! Before this I worked 3 years at a private school for students with learning disabilities. Straight out of college I came to this amazing school and was thrown into the world of ADHD students. They quickly taught me the importance of being flexible and how to think on my feet. Before starting in the classroom with these wonderful people, I was a camp counselor for 7 years at the same school and 2 years prior at another camp. I used some of these games with my campers to calm them down before we entered the building for lessons. Some of the games were to get them excited about the rest of the day. And others still were just to keep them in one place long enough for me to give instructions. But I learned so much from them! Now my games have been adapted for the classroom setting and still are as fun as ever!

I hope you can use some of these activities with your classroom and would be willing to share how they go or any changes you made. I love feedback so please feel free to leave comments!

And don’t worry. It is okay to sometimes teach on the fly!
